Shorewoodian Parents and Friends:
I apologize for the delay in my ever evolving updates, school became a little busy. Now though it is time to move forward and give you the happenings around campus.
First, Homecoming is coming. October 15th is the day. The preceding week is full of all kinds of good clean fun. Dress up days, spirit days culminating in a big ol' fashion pep rally. As in years past these pep rallies can be loud and a lot of fun.
Please come on in and see for yourself. Parents are most welcome. I would recommend bringing ear plugs for the volume. There is also a dance on Saturday the 16th. This is the big one for all the under classpeeps so don't be surprised if your students want to raid your bank account for clothes, shoes, dinner, flowers, anchovies, breakfast cereals, eggs, beef..etc. It is a great time for all.
PSAT is also on Saturday the 16th. If you have a sophomore or a junior have them sign up and take it. It is great practice for the SAT plus depending on the score your student gets may qualify them for awards later.
Lastly come on out to the football game this Friday. The T-Birds will be taking on non conference foes Lakeside.
Until next time.

And Forward We All Move
Greeting Shorewoodian Parents: It has been a few days since my last update for you all. I wish I could tell you so much has happened around the campus but alas, no.
What I can tell you though, there is a DANCE this Friday after the Football game.
Dance starts around 9 p.m. Encourage your student to give it a look, sometimes they can be fun. Also come to the Biggest Football Game of the season....Shorewood VS. Shorecrest. You have two teams with records of 1-2 and the underdog T-birds looking for their first cross town victory in six years. There will be a picture taken of the stands and fans at half time, so show up decked out in your best Green, Blue and White outfit.
I hope those broken computers are being fixed all right. The tech lab is now open for repairs. Also the PSAT is coming up soon so if you have a Sophomore or Junior encourage them to sign up and take the test. Its a good practice test for the SAT and also if you score well enough potential college scholarships may be available. Cost is $19.00. I forgot the date, but it is the second or third weekend in October.
If you attended the open house last Thursday hopefully you didn't get lost as you met your student's teachers. Shorewood is a big long campus and can be a little tricky at times. That's all for now Parents. Feel free to drop me a question anytime about anything. You can also call the front office or check out the Shorewood High School home page for further details of upcoming events.

All is Well
So far so good over the past couple of weeks. First, if you know a football player congratulate them on their Victory of last week. It is the first time the T-Birds have won since 2008. Look for more victories to come! GO T-Birds. Second the tech room is now open for business. So if your student's computer needs a little work, ow is the time to get it done. Also coming up on the weekend of the 24th there will be the first dance of the year. Sometimes these dances can be a lot of fun to go to. It is also a good way for your underclassman to get involved. Lastly, I hope things are settling down now that we are in our first Full Week of school. Most schedule changes should be done and the daily routine of getting up, going back to bed, falling asleep in the shower, eating breakfast and going back to bed, and finally making it to school should be in full swing. Stay tuned the adventure continues!
LAST LAST THING: THURSDAY IS CURRICULUM NIGHT AT SHOREWOOD. Come on up, bring your students schedule, and meet the teachers. It is a fun, and quick, way to put names with faces.

Football and Technology!
Greetings Shorewoodians:
If you did not have the chance last Friday to come out and cheer the T-Bird Football team on you missed a great game. They did loose 13-7 but looked mighty good doing so. I believe it is only a matter of the next few games before the Wins start coming in and the climb back to competitive football begins. If your so inclined, the next game is at Edmonds Woodway Stadium this Friday at 8pm. The T-Birds opponent this week will be the Lynwood Royals. Come on out and cheer your favorite player on and the team to victory.
Ok now on to a little business. As we begin our second week of school and first taste of One Hundred minute periods don't be surprised if your freshman or sophomore student comes home a little cranky. It takes a couple of weeks to adjust and get in the groove to this type of schedule. Also if your student is having computer problems all ready, and there will be lots this year (its year four for the laptops) be patient. The tech room will begin looking at issues starting next week. Remind your student to take good care of their laptop ( My son learned what it felt like to give up a C-note last year for a broken screen) to avoid any charges at the end of the year. Up next: "Tim's wild trip down the 100's" and "How do I ask for help from my teacher when I don't get it."
Until next time Shorewood.

The First Few Days

So far the first couple of days have gone smoothly. I am helping freshman find their classes and chasing the Sophomores and Juniors away from taunting the seniors(just kidding). Typically the first week or so of school is filled with getting use to the routine. Wake up, shower, eat, pick out what to wear, go back to bed, wake up, answer fifty two texts about homework that you did not do, call your friend for a ride, miss the ride and take the bus. There are also those pesky schedule changes that seem to randomly happen. You get what you think is the perfect schedule then WHAM! your handed another that makes no sense. It can be a trying week or so, especially for your freshman student, yet it does get better rather quickly. Before you know things will be running smoothly and that little person won't be so little anymore. In future blogs I tell you about how your student can get more involved in what Shorewood has to offer (there is quite a bit). So until then have a wonderful Labor day weekend.
Also remember the football game tomorrow at 7PM. Come and where your green and blue and cheer on the T-birds against Everett High School. Also here are a few picks from tonight's pregame feed.
